Hello, I’m Haley Toll (she/her), and I look forward to offering my support and unconditional positive regard as you embark on your unique journey toward healing and personal growth. With over a decade of international and pan-Canadian experience in the fields of psychotherapy, counselling, and art therapy, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from individuals across diverse backgrounds and experiences. I believe in an integrated method, drawing from trauma-informed art therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, solution-focused therapy, strengths-based approaches, arts-based narrative exposure therapy, and grief and bereavement counselling. My practice is rooted in the principles of strength-based, client-centered, compassion-focused, and humanistic care, always customized to your unique needs, background, experiences, and goals.

My journey began in 2010, taking me to various corners of the world where I had the honour of walking alongside people facing life’s challenges. From Mongolia, where I collaborated with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the Unur Bul Orphanage, to Botswana, where I contributed to the Baylor Clinic and Stepping Stones International, my focus has always been on providing compassionate assistance.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals coping with and healing from trauma, cancer treatment, and various psychological hurdles at institutions like Edmonton’s Cross Cancer Institute, BC’s Sea to Sky Community Services, St. John’s Association for New Canadians, and Montreal’s Maimonides Geriatric Residence and Jewish General Hospital in Child Psychiatry.

My journey has also involved sharing insights with fellow mental health practitioners and students worldwide through teaching graduate and masters-level courses in art therapy, presentations, and workshops. My teaching areas of expertise range from creative arts counselling to research and family art therapy.

Academically, I hold PhD in Curriculum Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a master’s in creative arts therapy from Concordia University (Montreal). My doctoral research focused on supporting newcomer refugee women in Newfoundland through artmaking.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as the President of the Canadian Art Therapy Association and I am contributing to the Canadian Journal of Art Therapy as the Lead Editor. I’ve also had the opportunity to initiate meaningful programs, such as a peer support narrative exposure therapy initiative for the Association for New Canadians in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Whether you’re just beginning your journey or continuing to seek growth, I’m here to provide professional and compassionate guidance. Feel free to reach out, and together, we can embark on a transformative process that honours your unique story.

With respect and warmth, I invite you to explore the path of healing and creative growth together.
